Screen recording is a feature used to record screens for demonstration purposes. For Mac, QuickTime player provides great features for screen recording. You can also select the area of the screen you want to record. And for Windows, you can use any built-in or free player for recording.

Step2. Convert .mov to GIF:
Now, convert the file that you obtained from screen recording to GIF format using one of the following free online tools:
I. https://ezgif.com/video-to-gif

II. https://www.zamzar.com/

Both tools provide file conversion of feature.
Step3. Upload GIF:
Lastly, you have a GIF file downloaded from the converter. Its time to upload it on Medium.

Upload downloaded GIF
1. Download GIF:
If you find a GIF from https://gfycat.com/,download it from there. You have a GIF in .mp4 format so for conversion you can do the above-mentioned 2 and 3 steps and then upload it on your medium article.
